Writer's Atelier

Writer's Atelier is a project that was started by Writer and Editor, Racquel Henry. We offer live classes in the Tampa Bay area and manuscript consulting for fiction writers. We'll also offer online classes and workshops in the near future. If you've always wanted to write fiction or sharpen your fiction writing skills then our fiction classes may be for you.

The next fiction class will begin Monday July 2, 2012 from 6pm-7:30pm. In this class we'll discuss the writing process. Our fiction classes are for writers at all stages. Whether you're looking to break into fiction, have never written anything but would like to try your hand at writing fiction, or you've been writing fiction informally and would like to learn more about the craft, you'll find our classes rewarding.

Writers who wish to receive feedback from the instructor may send inquiries to the email address below.

The class meets every Monday, unless stated otherwise. The cost is $10 per class.

If you are a writer in the Tampa Bay area and would like to take Racquel's class or receive more information, please email her at racquel@racquelhenry.com. Space is limited, only 9-10 students per class.

My goal is to encourage writers to have the confidence to believe in their writing while they also work to improve their writing.

Frequently Asked Questions:

1. Can anyone take the class?

Yes. The class is open to anyone and any writer with an interest or passion for fiction.

2. What can I expect in terms of feedback?

I also offer individualized feedback to students who want extra attention. My rates are lower than most writing professionals in the area. I'm very honest when responding to students' work. I'll respond with ways you may be able to improve your writing/fiction. For more details on what I look for, see the Writer's Atelier Manuscript Consulting tab.

3. How is the class structured?

During class meetings we'll discuss reading assignments, the craft of fiction and practice what is learned by executing writing exercises.

4. How much time is required?

The class meets once a week for an hour and a half. It is up to the student to assess the amount of time they are willing to dedicate to the craft.
