Calls for Submissions:
1. Paper Tape
Paper Tape, an online literary magazine, is currently reading unsolicited submissions. They accept fiction, creative non-fiction, essays, reviews, and interviews. The theme for this reading period is "myth." Reading period deadline is May 31, 2013.
2. Willow Books
Willow Books, the literary division of Aquarius Press, is now reading unsolicited manuscripts. This reading period is only for writers who have not previously been published by Aquarius Press/Willow Books. Their mission is to develop, publish and promote writers typically underrepresented in the market, and the reading period is open to all writers from diverse cultural backgrounds. Poetry manuscripts should be in the 48-96 page range, and fiction/non-fiction should be no longer than 180 pages. Scholarly titles covering literature, arts and the Humanities (up to 250 pages) are also accepted, but they should be in proper format (MLA, APA, etc.). Genre/subject is open, but no "street lit" or erotica. Reading fee is $25 and the open reading period ends September 1, 2013.
3. The Boiler
The Boiler seeks work that makes readers' blood boil for its eighth issue. They publish poetry, short fiction, and short memoirs on a quarterly basis. Deadline for the summer issue is May 15, 2013.
4. Blast Furnace Volume 3, Issue 2
For the tenth issue, they are entertaining the theme of travels, and are particularly interested in poems that dwell in places of travel outside of one's comfort zone. Travel could be physical travel/world travels, travels of the mind, travels outside of the box. As always, they are happy to consider poetry outside of the theme.
Submit no more than three of your BEST poems, or, if you prefer to create an audio recording of yourself reciting your poetry, send ONLY ONE file attachment of NOT MORE THAN 2 MINUTES/120 seconds in total duration. Deadline for Volume 3, Issue 2 is June 15, 2013.
As always, Black Fox Literary Magazine is accepting submissions of fiction, creative non-fiction, poetry, art and photography. Happy Writing!
