Opportunities in the Great Big Literary World- November 7, 2011

Song of the Day: The Glow by Willie Hutch

Hello all! How was the weekend? I had a pretty productive one. I spent most of the weekend helping my sister with her wedding invitation company. On Saturday we helped to assemble centerpieces for a wedding and Sunday she created elaborate signs for all the vendors at the Disney Bridal Stroll. I managed to squeeze in some writing time. Yesterday, I wrote 2500 words, but I'm still 3,000 behind on my NanoWriMo novel. Yikes! I don't work on Mondays so I'll be spending the day trying to play catch up. I know that this month will be harder for writers participating in National Novel Writing Month to submit their work, but I urge you to try and squeeze it in if you can. Why not try submitting something shorter like a Haiku or a short short story? Those don't take too much time to compose and you'll be keeping up with submissions. Maybe you have a story ready to go that's been sitting around and collecting dust? Submit it!

Calls for Submissions:

Black Fox Literary Magazine- Issue #2- Fall 2011

Song of the Day: Dancing Machine by The Jackson 5

Hello all! I was supposed to blog on Monday about Black Fox and well, I ended up running out of time. You wouldn't believe how complicated it is to get the files to upload correctly. That ended up taking me the whole day. Was I frustrated? YES! Was it worth it? YES! Issue #2 is finally here! Pam, Quita and I are extremely proud if this issue! The selection process was more complicated than it was for issue one. We didn't mind however, because we love reading the work of other writers. We're thankful and honored that so many writers would like to be a part of our magazine. You can read the free version on our site here. Or you can buy a print copy here. Fair warning, we had to increase the price because Lulu increased the cost of production. We don't actually make much per issue, but any support would be greatly appreciated!

Issue #2 Features work by: Barbara Neu (Cover Artist), Valentina Cano, Adam Cogbill, Tess Dewhurst, Marit Ericson, Patrick Gabbard, William Garland, Roberta Guthrie Kowald, Pamela Jessen, Vineet Kaul, Ash Krafton, Michael Lee Johnson, Misti Rainwater-Lites, Caryl Sills and Jennifer Yu. Special Interviews with Contributors Roberta Guthrie Kowald and William Garland. Author Interview with KM Walton.

Check it out and let us know what you think! We love feedback. Happy Reading!
