Song of the Day: Graduation (Friends Forever) by Vitamin C

Hello all! It has been a while, hasn't it? As some of you may know, the week before last, I presented my thesis and GRADUATED! I had to go to New Jersey for the presentation and graduation and didn't return until last week. I'm still getting back into the swing of things if you can believe it. Today, I'm just checking in and next week I'll return to the regularly scheduled Opportunities Monday.

My thesis presentation went well from what others told me. From my perspective...Eh. I was so nervous! I had intentions of not reading off of my paper, but when I got up there I couldn't remember anything and I froze! So I ended up reading. The good new is that I looked up a lot and kept a conversational tone. The presentation went by very fast. I was supposed to read from my novel for ten minutes, but that didn't happen because the craft and form section took up forty five minutes! I'm glad it did though. I had the best support system there to put me at ease. My family was there. Then my amazing sisters Pam and Quita, skyped the presentation so it felt like they were really there cheering me on. Plus our little brother Matt was there.

After the presentation I was asked a couple of tough questions. I think I answered them well. Lucky for me, I was able to reference other books that I read to help me answer the questions. See why it's important for writers to read?

The presentation was on Tuesday and the graduation was on Saturday, so after it was over, I was able to enjoy my trip. I went to New York and got to see most of my family and friends. It was a really nice time.  I feel rested and I'm ready to get back into things. I missed my blogging buddies too. Hopefully, I didn't miss out on too much in the blog world. Below are some pictures from my trip.

  1. Congrats, sounds like you did well! that's the type of think that would have had be sick to my stomach beforehand ;-) Well done.

  2. Aren't you glad we finished those presentations?? Now we just have to kick butt at panel. :)

  3. Great pictures--especially that first one (tee hee). And your presentation WAS great! I am so proud of you and all of us. We FREAKING did it!!!

  4. Congratulations!! Your MFA program sounds much more intense than mine. We had to do a reading of our creative thesis but otherwise we didn't have to present anything.

I'm glad you had a great time in NYC! :)

  5. You handled those questions superbly! I was panicking for you, but you were awesome! Wish I could have heard some of your creative stuff, but I'm sure that it will be out there soon enough. :) Congrats again!

  6. Congratulations, Racquel!!! That's quite a feat!
Your next project: Your novel. Yaaayy!!!!
BTW, I love what you've done with your blog. Keep up the good work!
